Opening Day: Fenway Park Wedding

Today is Opening Day and although the Red Sox do not play until tomorrow, I thought I would feature some photos from Jamie & Matt's Wedding at Fenway Park. Fenway Park provides ceremony and reception space for Weddings throughout the season in three distinct venues: the right field roof deck, the EMC Club, and the State Street Pavilion. Many couples hold their ceremony out on the Roof deck (cocktail hour can also be held here) and then follow up with a reception in one of the two other spaces. Both the EMC Club and the State Street Pavilion sit in the park behind home plate and overlook the field. There is also outdoor balcony space that overlooks Yawkey Way. Couples even have the option of renting the big screen to display a message to their guest.

Holding your wedding at Fenway also afford couples the opportunity to walk around the Park (with a Fenway Escort) to take photographs near the field or on top of the Green Monster. Both reception spaces are very elegant and couples have the opportunity to incorporate as much or as little of the"Baseball" theme as they desire: including an  ice cream sundae bar served in mini Red Sox Hats.  Jamie chose to have her Ring Bearer carry a baseball glove instead of a ring pillow. It was a cute idea, even though the Ring Bearer did not show his face down the aisle.

Fenway Park is truly a fabulous venue and it is a perfect example of a venue that really benefits from hiring a day of coordinator. There are a lot of moving pieces at the ballpark and even though the Red Sox are normally out of town during a private event, security, grounds-keeping and other members of the Red Sox are still working. Parking in the area is always a challenge even on a non-game day. Even Guests who are familiar with Fenway can get lost and turned around when entering an empty ballpark. Just getting into the Park can be difficult and don't even talk to me about cake delivery (there are few direct paths within the park and many ramps)! It makes the day go much smoother to have a Coordinator at Fenway for your Wedding to interface with the Catering Staff, Fenway Security, Fenway Event Staff and all your Vendors and Guests. In the end, the atmosphere of the iconic Boston landmark is well worth all the effort and I would be happy to run around Fenway Park again for another couple this season.
