{2019 Wedding Recap}

Photo by Jessie Felix Photography

Is it possible that we did not post a recap last year? I think we posted 2018 over on Instagram because who actually reads blogs anymore?

Probably the same people you won't mind starting off the new decade by going old-school!

This year was our tenth (!!!) wedding season and it had a wonderful mix of Planning, Lighting, Design and Coordination. We traveled throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine. We were in the woods, the mountains, the city and the sea. Enjoy a few of the highlights.

We started 2019 with our biggest wedding of the year at Hidden Pond Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine. We first met Perry at Margaret & Kyle's Wedding in 2017 and we spent close to 18 months getting every detail locked in for what ended up being an amazing weekend.  We could not have done it without our amazing vendor friends, Chelsey Emery, Laurajean Floral, Details Event Staging, Party Rentals Ltd, Kadeema Rentals True North Event Rentals , Sperry Tents and Griffin & Griffin Lighting. This wedding deserves a post all on its own.

At the end of the summer, Elizabeth & Laura joined our friends at the Harvard Faculty Club. We are huge fans of the entire team at HFC and love working with them! Photos from this event and its epic rain storm are in the works.

Next, we headed down to Newport to celebrate Kate and Scott at Belle Mer. I am fairly certain that I could submit these wedding party photos for advertising in a J. Crew Catalog. (You know I am right!) Large wedding parties can be difficult to manage from a timeline perspective but this crew was a dream.

Shortly thereafter, our very own Wedding MacGyver* and Light Designer, Eben, was married in New Hampshire to the beautiful Becky. The Esq.Team forced them to let us help and in return I promised not to be too "J.Lo" on the Wedding Coordinator at Josiah's Meeting House. (I mostly succeeded). Heather Bennett from Nature's Art Floral and long-standing Esq.Coordinator designed the florals and they were perfection.

And then we danced!

We managed to fit in a mini-styled shoot at the end of the summer with our friends at Olio (More on this soon) and then headed up to Vermont for Light Installations in our favorite barn at Riverside Farm. We have worked there before and the space is just so fun to design. Special shout out to our friends at New England Mobile Sound for the assist when our FOB wanted to add more Club Style Lights to the dance floor.

The Fall snuck up on us! Elizabeth and Heather successfully completed a rain dance for Kristin and Pete. Their outdoor ceremony at Misselwood was overcast but dry and beautiful!

Our season wrapped up with more lighting installations at Olio in November and December and more coordination back in the city for Lisa and Frank which resulted in one of my favorite Groom First-look photos of the decade.

Of course there was fun and travel in between and we started working with many new clients for 2020 and beyond. It wasn't the busiest season but it was once again filled with amazing clients, awesome colleagues and BALANCE. If I have learned anything in the past ten years, it is that balance is the key to longevity and success: passing on an event is the most difficult and more important thing you can do for yourself, your team and your business.

That being said of course: if you are engaged and looking for a partner to plan, design or coordinate your event then drop us a line and lets do this!*

Every year is different and that is because we continue to work with amazing couples (and also because we are circus level multi-tasking balance experts). For updates and more regular posting (if you are lucky) please check us out on Instagram.

*Extra points if you know who MacGyver is without checking Wikipedia.
