{2017 Wedding Recap}

Across the lake and through the woods to the ceremony

Esq.Events had an absolutely amazing 2017 Season. We continued to add Lighting Design and Wedding Styling to our services while remaining true to our focus as a Planning and Coordination company.

We planned events throughout New England and Pennsylvania in historic estates, private homes, boathouses and even a college dining hall!

We made disco-themed hangover kits for our fellow vendors at the B-List Party. We worked with a bevy of talented vendors. We were featured on the Knot. Our very own Heather Robicheau got married! (She hasn't sent us her photos yet or one would be here!)

We cannot wait to apply what we learned last year for the 2018 season. We are looking forward to working in new spaces and hoping to return to a few special places we have learned to love!

{Camp Weddings}

Did you know we were interviewed in an article last year by Improper Bostonian? It was all about planning "Camp Weddings" which we love planning here in New England. It is still a great article and you can read it here.

{winter in new england}

Via Cambridge Skating Club
Boston and the surrounding area has had ridiculous levels of snow this year. I've finally reach acceptance of the cold and snow. Hey, if you cannot beat it, join it right? Why not take advantage of the snow for some fabulous engagement photos?

Everytime I drive by this Cambridge Ice Rink I want to crash it with a faribault blanket and some hot chocolate. It is a member only type place but there are a lot of outdoor ice rinks in the city..although maybe not as cute as Cambridge Skating Club.

See? So cute? Via Cambridge Skating Club

Ice Skating not your thing? Never fear! Check out Ice Castles! This is a real thing and it is within driving distance in Lincoln, NH. I also stumbled on this fabulous Boston photographer who shot this couple in the Ice Castle a few weeks ago! Check out more on her blog!

{coordinator top three: Unique Bachelorette Parties in Boston}

The first bachelorette party I ever planned started with a sex toy party and ended with our own personal party trolley that took us to various bars in the Boston Area. That was over ten years ago and although it was a pretty fabulous party it would not be the type of party I would plan for the same group of ladies today! Every bride is different but here are a few options for groups that have outgrown the the party trolley.

Via Boston Wine Expo
Every February, the World Trade Center hosts the Boston Wine Expo. Grab your group of girls, maybe some matching t-shirts, eat some lunch and head to the expo where  over 200 Wineries are pouring 2000 different types of wine.

Destination Alternative: Walt Disney World Food & Wine Expo

Via The Fashion Truck
If wine is not your thing then you could have a private shopping event with The Fashion Truck. Opened in 2011, the Fashion Truck is a mobile boutique that brings the latest women's fashion to you! The best thing is that all sizes are stocked and nothing is more than $100! I always walk away with something fabulous when I pop into the Fashion Truck.

Via Paint Nite

Finally, this type of event is a craze right now but its very fun! I am talking about Paint Nite. Drinks, Friends, and Painting! I found it very therapeutic and my painting did not turn out too badly.  So find out what friend is hiding her inner artist and schedule a Paint Nite event: you can hit her up for DIY help later!

Via Zola.com

Today we talking about Zola.com: another fabulous and easy to use wedding registry that allows you basically to register for anything anywhere including a Honeymoon or other experiences! You can create gift packages and categories and guests can join together to purchase big ticket items. The layout is really super easy to use so if you haven't already picked a registry you should check out Zola!

{the eventernship}

I have been thinking about launching an "Event"ern program for a few years. We get bombarded with applications looking for experience in the Wedding Industry and I'd like to think that we have something to offer a possible burgeoning event planner. Also and perhaps more important, this industry is not for everyone and having an opportunity to test it out seems like a good idea. Many companies divide up the internship into just events or just business or just marketing but since we don't outsource any of that here at Esq.Events, I am planning on rolling it all into one big Eventern position not for the faint of heart. This internship will provide a very indepth and hands on experience in the wedding and event industry.

The Eventern should be a forward thinking, reliable and creative individual with strong leadership skills to perform the following:

-assists with Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest
-creates and updates media lists
-creates vendor lists; researches specific vendors for the event
-helps at events
-prospects new vendors by contacting ideal candidates
-performs research projects
-compiles research on competition and industry trends
-maintains good client and staff relationships through sending thank-you cards and gifts etc
-assists Owner on as-needed basis for various other tasks and projects

Ideally located in Boston (for event purposes), but rest of tasks will be done through working remotely.

You must be enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate degree program in order to qualify for this unpaid internship. Important to note: this is a training opportunity and no eventern will be used in lieu of additional wedding coordinators or assistants.

To be considered for a position in our Eventern program please send the following information to jennifer@esq-events.com

- A current resume
- A cover letter that includes:
Why you want to intern with Esq.Events
What you hope to learn from the internship
What you will bring to the role
Any relevant social media links
- A writing sample for blog and social media posts
- List of References
- Any weekends that you would not be available for Event Support during the 2015 Season.

{wedding trends for 2015: copper}

If you went into my attic you would find it filled with silver mercury glass, but lately I am obsessed with copper elements. Think about how fabulous it would look with Marsala....

{sherlock and the acrylic versailles chairs}

Via BBC
Last year while watching the BBC's Sherlock, I exclaimed "are those acrylic versailles chairs?" My husband thought I was crazy..but I went on a quest to discover if you in fact can rent Clear Versailles Style Chairs. Although I have been unable to source them locally, these chairs are available for rent.

In case you were wondering, the scene for Watson's Wedding was filmed at the University of Bristol in the Goldney Room Orangery, which can be rented out for weddings: Benedict Cumberbatch not included.

{wedding trends for 2015: Marsala}

I am really loving the Pantone Color of the Year this year: Marsala. Last year was underwhelming (I am looking at you Radiant Orchid), but Marsala is rich and complements a wide variety of neutrals and mixed metals. It is also such an Italian color and you know how I love some Italian inspiration! Let's rock this palette!

{wedding tech: revamping the registry}

Blueprint Registry is a great new tool for engaged couples to register in one place from multiple stores. They offer a great room by room way to shop and build your registry and also offer style advice based on your initial choices. I wish I had something to register for!!!

I wasn't planning on posting today but I saw this from one of my Wedding Cinematographer friends and couldn't resist posting the actual result...I just love the skepticism and the reactions that result. I hope they told the planners what was going on ;)
